About the graduate

A GRAPHIC DESIGN graduate has the knowledge and competencies in designing creative visual forms for all new and traditional media, their utility, business, arts and education applications.

 

Thanks to the combination of the program of studies classes with elements of artistic disciplines concerning knowledge about copyright law, marketing, IT or foreign language, a graduate has unlimited possibilities of creation with developed the skills to use the various tools.

 

In the field of fine arts areas of interest and knowledge of a graduate include both traditional and technologically advanced means of expression. We pass a general knowledge of art history, aesthetics and design. A large amount of exercise enables the practical teaching of imaging, modeling and composition.

 

In terms of graduate IT skills particular emphasis is placed on practical knowledge of modeling software for video and audio, editing, streaming media, two- and three-dimensional image generation, and all uses of DTP (desktop publishing).

In addition to the skills listed above, a graduate of the Graphics major with a specialization in Graphic Design additionally acquires knowledge and skills in the field of:

  • issues of editorial graphics and digital printing, printing techniques, DTP, prepress and postpress
  • designing for marketing purposes – designing and planning promotional campaigns, as well as corporate identification
  • designing publications, typesetting and layout of publications, typography in printing
  • advanced, professional operation of digital printing devices, their calibration for printing on various materials
  • implementing tasks in the field of commercial (advertising) photography, photo correction and retouching, product photography, designing, organizing and implementing creative, marketing-oriented photo sessions
  • designing websites (graphic design and construction of websites, preparation in the field of functional design, including: designing architecture and information modeling, selecting website typography internet, basics of HTML, XHTML markup languages, basics of GUI)
  • preparation and design of multimedia for advertising purposes on the Internet

 

The graduate will:

  • demonstrate knowledge of marketing communication issues, the ability to notice, analyze and select important features of the communication object and build a coherent marketing message based on their own creation,
  • have the ability to build a corporate identification system, knowledge of the principles of building promotional campaigns (commercial and social)

 

By acquiring additional competences within the Graphic Design specialization, the graduate will also be prepared to start their own business in the field of:

Multimedia

Graduates of the Graphics major with a specialization in Multimedia will additionally acquire knowledge and skills in the field of:

  • kinetic and presentation graphics
  • creating visualizations and modeling of 3D spaces and objects
  • 3D and 2D animation
  • designing technologically advanced multimedia websites
  • AutoCad 2D and 3D engineering design
  • preparation in the field of functional design

 

They will have knowledge and skills in the field of:

  • graphic design and construction of multimedia websites
  • architecture and modeling of information, selection of website typography, basics of HTML, XHTML markup languages, basics of GUI
  • preparation in the field of functional design
  • registration, processing and editing of video images, non-linear video editing, film special effects, screenwriting and preparation in the field of functional design

 

By acquiring additional competences within the Multimedia specialization, graduates will also be prepared to start their own business in the following areas:

Games and Virtual Reality Design

This specialization combines both competences in the field of artistic graphics and graphic design and computer graphics workshop, taking into account modern game design technologies. The ability to work in a team with co-creators of computer games and interactive entertainment is also very important. The program of the specialization was developed in close cooperation with practitioners related to the video game industry.

 

In addition to the skills listed above, a graduate of the Graphics major with a specialization in Game Design and Virtual Reality additionally acquires knowledge and skills in the field of:

  • 2D and 3D animation
  • designing textures and optimizing graphic files for game needs
  • creating computer graphics
  • creating: concepts, plots, levels and narratives, and game interfaces
  • designing character and object interactions
  • 3D modeling and video animation
  • creating scripting systems in game engines
  • computer special effects
  • programming game logic and artificial intelligence issues
  • practical use of professional software platforms used in the gaming industry
  • organizing the game design process
  • implementing games in various environments and on various platforms (mobile platform, web environment, network games)

UX Design – usability design

In the production of software, products and services, more and more emphasis is being placed on their user-friendly and useful nature – hence the growing demand on the labor market for people with knowledge and practical skills in designing, researching and analyzing User Experience.

 

UX Design – usability design is a specialization in which we offer a unique combination of UX design with web analytics. We show the process, from the analysis of customer requirements, through design work, to the analysis of user behavior and optimization of the solutions used. Properly selected subjects in the specialization program allow you to gain qualifications in the field of application design and digital products with an emphasis on User Experience – a field that combines the world of IT with the world of psychology, design, marketing and business analysis.

 

During the studies, the student will acquire knowledge and skills in the field of:

  • interface design
  • interaction with the user
  • information architecture
  • perception of the website and brand
  • creation of internet solutions from the analysis of customer requirements, through design work, to analysis of user behavior and optimization of the applied solutions
